System Physicist

Magnus-Metal is a ground-breaking start-up specializing in the development of an innovative additive casting process for producing exceptionally large metal components. This cutting-edge digital technology merges traditional casting with additive manufacturing, enabling the creation of custom-designed metal parts tailored to the customers' materials specifications. Our machine has successfully validated the technology and process. We are now seeking outstanding professionals to join our multidisciplinary R&D team as we tackle the exciting challenges of scaling up this technology.

The role of the System Physicist involves active participation in the development and implementation of our first-generation industrial machine. At Magnus Metal, we seek a System physicist with extensive technological expertise and the ability to rapidly comprehend and solve complex problems. We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic physicist with a passion for advancing innovative technologies and a strong commitment to close collaboration with multidisciplinary development teams.

Responsibilities

·      Develop a deep understanding of the machine's inner workings and underlying physical principles, achieving a comprehensive perspective of the casting process and system operations

·      Detecting, characterizing, understanding, and solving unpredicted challenges.

·      Conceptualize and implement novel solutions to technical problems.

·      Design, conduct, and analyse experiments directly on the machine.

·      Take part in establishing a Beta site in the US.

·      Designing, performing, and analyzing on-tool experiments.

Qualifications

·      Experienced PhD in physics (more than 3 yrs.) or highly experienced MSc physicist (mandatory).

·      Proven experience in hardware-focused industrial R&D (mandatory).

·      Expertise in addressing heat transfer challenges (advantage).

·      Familiarity with FEA software (e.g., COMSOL) (advantage).

·      Background in material science and physical chemistry (advantage).

·      Experience in the 3D printing industry (advantage).
