BGN is the technology transfer office of Ben-Gurion University, which owns the patents and inventions rights of the technologies being developed at the University. BGN acts as the bridge between the academia and the industry by helping advance applicative research and commercialize the technologies via licensing agreement and spin-offs.

About the Bio-Innovation Unit

The Bio-Innovation unit’s goal is to identify and advance bio-related technologies developed by BGU’s researchers to reach significant milestones relevant for commercialization. Bio-related technologies include technologies in the field of Pharma, Bio-Convergence, Biotechnology, Diagnostics, Medical Devices, Digital Health and more. 

Responsibilities 

• Develop good working relationships and collaboration with the University’s researchers and scout for interesting applicative projects
•  Accompany and guide researchers in preparing grant applications for applied research from such sources as: Israel Innovation Authority, MOST, EU, RFP of companies
• Review research material to understand the proposed technology
• Analyze the advantages of technologies compared to other solutions being developed and solutions that exist in the market
• Analyze the patent potential of the technology and potential regulatory concerns 
• Interact with internal stakeholders – Business Development, IP department, University Research Authority, Finance.

Qualifications

• PhD in Life sciences / Biotechnology / Biology / Biochemistry / Biophysics / Pharmacology / Biomedical engineering or in related degrees – Must
• Experience in R&D/product management of novel technologies in industrial companies – Must
• Experience in medical device companies and/or AI based healthcare companies – HIGH advantage
• Experience in diverse research fields – Must
• Familiar with business strategies in the field – Must
• Familiar with regulation, clinical study, patent issues – Must
• Experience with Israel Innovation Authority funded projects – HIGH advantage
• Extremely high level of English
• Excellent human skills
• Team player
• Ability to work with deadlines
• Ability to work on multiple topics simultaneously
• Documentation skills
• Fast learner
