Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Safety Manager to join our dynamic team at the intersection of AI technology and the trucking industry. This unique position blends leadership in safety management with a focus on leveraging technology to improve operational processes. While traditional trucking safety experience is beneficial, we are particularly interested in candidates with extensive experience in managing large teams and improving technological systems. Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Management:
• Lead, manage, and mentor a team of 10+ direct reports across safety and operational functions. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring team members are engaged, trained, and performing at their best.
• Safety Program Oversight:
• Develop and implement safety programs, policies, and practices in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements. While trucking safety experience is not essential, the ability to translate safety requirements into operational practices and policies is critical.
• Technology Integration & Improvement:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze, identify, and implement improvements in the company’s Transportation Management System (TMS) and other technologies. Ensure that safety protocols are integrated into technological solutions for a more efficient and effective safety program.
• Data-Driven Decision Making:
• Utilize data from safety metrics, employee feedback, and technological systems to assess and improve safety performance and operational efficiency. Leverage AI and analytics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Process Optimization & Innovation:
• Work with the technology and operations teams to continually improve workflows and safety measures using AI-driven tools and advanced technology. Help to guide the evolution of internal software and systems that improve operational safety and productivity.
• Training & Development:
• Oversee the development and delivery of safety-related training programs for team members, ensuring that staff is up-to-date with the latest industry safety standards, technologies, and best practices.
• Risk Management & Compliance:
• Ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal safety regulations. Manage risk assessments and ensure compliance with relevant safety and technology standards.
• Collaboration with Leadership:
• Provide regular reports on safety initiatives, team performance, and technology implementation to senior leadership. Work closely with directors and department heads to align safety and technology goals with overall business objectives.
  
  

• Experience:
• Proven experience managing large teams (10+ direct reports) in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
• Experience in safety management, risk assessment, or operations is preferred, but a strong background in managing tech-focused teams is also highly valued.
• Demonstrated ability to improve and implement systems, including TMS, to optimize safety and operations.
• Strong background in technology management or IT systems, ideally with exposure to AI or logistics technology, is a plus.
• Skills:
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and motivate a diverse team.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in the context of improving technology and operational workflows.
• Proficient in the use of AI, machine learning, or other advanced technologies in an operational context.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, balancing safety, technology, and operational goals.
