Process Engineer

An exceptional Ag-tech /Food-tech startup is looking for a highly skilled innovative and hands-on Process Engineer to take ownership of process design, optimization, and implementing processes for cutting-edge systems

Definition & Responsibilities

1/ R&D Process Development & Innovation:

·      Develop and refine processes that drive innovation in system design and operational efficiency.

·      Collaborate with R&D teams (mechanical, software, and biology) to integrate process improvements into experimental setups and prototypes.

·      Test and validate processes in laboratory or pilot-scale systems, ensuring readiness for scaling.

2/ Process Design & Documentation:

·      Design and document formal  workflows, including Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), Block Diagrams, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

3/ Maintain detailed and precise documentation

to support R&D efforts and facilitate cross-team collaboration.

4/ Process Optimization in R&D systems:

·      Evaluate and optimize processes based on experimental results, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance system performance.

·      Analyse data from R&D experiments and translate findings into actionable process changes. .

5/ Hands-On Involvement in R&D activities:

·      Engage in all stages of R&D system development, from early-stage prototypes to final validation.

·      Troubleshoot and solve process-related issues in collaboration with the broader R&D team.

6/ Work with experimental systems

to identify and address limitations, ensuring continuous improvement. Collaboration Across R&D Disciplines:

·      Partner with mechanical, software, and biology teams to ensure seamless integration of processes into the overall system.

·      Contribute to multidisciplinary projects, supporting system scalability and alignment with long-term R&D goals.

7/ Growth Potential:

·      Take increasing responsibility for R&D process development as the team grows.

·      Mentor and guide junior team members, sharing expertise and fostering collaboration.

8/ Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with sensors, feedback loops, and automation techniques in R&D setups.

Experience in designing and validating systems in sterile or experimental environments:

Requirements

·      Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or a related field.

·      3+ years of proven experience in R&D process design and optimization, and experimental system validation. Demonstrated ability to take ownership of R&D-focused projects and deliver results.

·      Expertise in process documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs, and SOPs.

·      Hands-on experience with process development and troubleshooting in R&D environments.

·      Strong skills in Excel, including advanced data analysis and process modeling.

·      Knowledge of fluid dynamics and practical experience with pumps, valves, and other industrial components.

·      Expertise in process documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs, and SOPs.

·      Hands-on experience with process development and troubleshooting in R&D environments.

·      Familiarity with sterile processes, including Clean-In-Place (CIP) and Steam-In-Place (SIP) systems.

·      Strong interpersonal skills and excellent teamwork – a "can-do" attitude with the ability to thrive in a startup environment, meet technical challenges, and collaborate effectively across disciplines.

·      Fluent in technical English – verbal & written.
