Project Sunshine’s mission is to bring connection and joy to children with medical needs through dedicated volunteers who deliver the healing power of play. For over 25 years, Project Sunshine volunteers have brought joy and play to pediatric patients through our network of medical facility and nonprofit partners in the US, Canada, Kenya and Israel.

Internationally, over 18,000 trained volunteers deliver programs that provide opportunities for creative expression, socialization, intellectual stimulation, and sensory integration to nearly 250,000 pediatric patients and families each year. Our unique volunteer engagement model allows community groups, colleges, and corporations to create moments of connection with pediatric patients, caregivers, and families providing child and family-centered, play-based programming.

About the Position:

The role of the Country Manager is to maintain, execute, and promote the activities of Project Sunshine Israel in a smooth and efficient manner. Project Sunshine Israel engages over 70 regular volunteers and operates in four hospitals in the Tel Aviv area. These hospitals include Schneider Children’s Medical Center, Meir Hospital, The Edmond and Lily Safra Children’s Hospital at Tel Hashomer, and Ruth Rappaport Children’s Hospital at Rambam Healthcare Campus. Additionally, Project Sunshine Israel volunteers in two kindergartens that are for children facing health challenges - ILAN Sports Center for the Disabled (Spivak) as well as the kindergarten located within Tel Hashomer hospital. The Manager will maintain the existing programs in Israel and potentially expand in the future if funding allows.

The Country Manager will be responsible for recruiting, managing and retaining volunteers in the organization. They will source program materials and work to develop and maintain positive, long-term relationships with the vendors, volunteers, staff at medical facility partners and colleagues in the NY headquarters. The Manager will also coordinate with suppliers, track programmatic data on our centralized Salesforce platform, and track and manage program expenses and coordinate with the Project Sunshine Israel Board.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborator, able to motivate others, service-oriented, with the ability to work independently, and eager to serve children and families facing medical challenges.

Principle Responsibilities:

1. Recruit, train, manage and retain volunteers in the organization, which includes interviews, administration, monitoring, attendance reports and providing feedback when necessary.
2. Manage and deepen relationships with medical facility partners, soliciting their feedback and ensure that Project Sunshine Israel meets their needs.
3. Maintain Salesforce with program data from PS Israel programs.
4. In coordination with the US based Marketing and Communications team, manage social media for Project Sunshine Israel and maintain the Project Sunshine Israel website.
5. Regularly communicate with NY Office headquarters on Project Sunshine Israel programming.
6. Organize special events and community outreach efforts as needed.
7. Source program materials and manage vendors and suppliers for program materials.
8. Locate new partners - creating and developing collaborations.
9. Coordinate with PS Israel accountants and attorneys as needed on annual audit, and organizational compliance.
10. Support and engage in Project Sunshine Israel board and shareholder meetings.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 4-5 years of experience, preferably in a nonprofit or medical setting

1. Strong verbal and written expression in Hebrew and English - a must (native speaker level)Experience working with volunteers and children
2. Strong organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
3. Detail‐oriented, highly organized, and flexible
4. Ability to work individually and collaboratively to meet goals
5. Experience with Microsoft Office including fluency with Word, Excel, and Outlook required
6. Experience with Salesforce preferred
7. Expertise with web-based tools, social networks, Canva
8. Enthusiasm for Project Sunshine’s mission
