The company implements advanced manufacturing technologies to produce precision components from metals and composite materials, working closely with customer design teams to provide end-to-end turn-key solutions.
Job Overview:
We are looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer with specialized expertise in composite materials and mold/tooling design. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing innovative designs and manufacturing solutions that support the production of advanced composite structures. Will play a key role in the design, testing, and optimization of tooling systems and molds for composite materials used in various industries such as aerospace, automotive, and marine.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop mechanical systems, molds, and tooling for the manufacturing of composite materials and components. Create detailed 3D models, technical drawings, and assembly documentation using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA). Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define material specifications, production methods, and quality control processes. Optimize the design of tooling and molds to improve production efficiency, reduce cost, and ensure high-quality output. Work closely with manufacturing and production teams to ensure tooling is properly designed for efficient composite material layup and curing.
Lead the testing and validation of new tooling designs, making adjustments as needed based on performance results.
Stay updated on the latest advancements in composite material technologies, tooling techniques, and manufacturing processes. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to mold and tooling design during production.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical design, with a focus on composite materials and mold/tooling design.
Good skill in CAD softwares (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and FEA tools.
Strong understanding of composite material properties, layup processes, and curing methods.
Experience in designing molds and tooling systems for composite manufacturing.
Familiar with CNC machining, 3D printing, and other manufacturing technologies for tooling.
Problem-solving skills with independent and team work capabilities.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey technical information clearly.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in industries such as aerospace, automotive, or marine, working with composite structures.
Familiar with advanced manufacturing techniques, including vacuum bagging, resin infusion, and autoclave curing.
Knowledge of material testing and quality assurance practices.
Project management experience, capable of overseeing design projects from initial concept to final implementation.
