Scientific Director Position – The Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at Tel Aviv University (TAD)

Background: The Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at Tel Aviv University (TAD) was established in 2020. The center is interdisciplinary and very active in promoting scientific research in these fields, both in basic science at the core of the field and in collaborations with scientists from other fields. The center leads the development of education programs in the field, and deals with the establishment and strengthening of the computational infrastructure, the development of international scientific relations and the expansion of relations with industry. TAD is the largest center at Tel Aviv University. More than 300 faculty members from all faculties take part in the center's various activities. Additional information can be found on TAD's website.

Requirements:

•       A PhD from a recognized academic institution in exact sciences or engineering

•       At least five years of research experience in the academia or industry, relating to diverse aspects of the field

•       Academic publications in the field

•       Familiarity with working with data from different fields

•       Experience in developing academic teaching materials - an advantage

The Role:

•       Leading collaborative research projects with labs at the university. 

•       Promoting mechanisms for cooperation in the field between researchers across the campus and researchers at the center.

•       Employment of doctoral students and employees at the center.

•       Establishing an infrastructure where it will be possible to share data between researchers. The infrastructure must meet the privacy requirements by the various types of research.

•       Management of the computational infrastructure that is the responsibility of the center.

•       Development of academic courses and education programs - in coordination with the relevant departments.

•       Deepening relations with industry and public institutions.
