AccuLine is a medical device startup founded with the vision of saving millions of lives worldwide by preventing the next heart attack. AccuLine is developing CORA, an accurate and user-friendly system for the early detection of coronary artery disease (CAD), aiming to replace stress test exams. CORA comprises a console measuring ECG and additional bio-signals and processes the results using cloud-based ML/DL.

Position Overview

AccuLine is seeking a passionate and experienced individual to join our team as VP Data Science. In this role, you will lead our research and technology initiatives, with a hands-on focus on our machine learning efforts, playing a pivotal role in the development of CORA. This role is fundamental to our mission's success: to prevent heart attacks by the early detection of coronary artery disease.

Key Responsibilities

• Be part of the company's management team, leading the key vector in our activity.
• Lead and oversee a team comprising a Data Science Director and two Data Scientists.
• Own all data science internal research efforts to develop DL and ML classifiers from time-series biological data.
• Take an active, hands-on role in model development.
• Manage the full data pipeline—from raw signals, through preprocessing and DSP, to model development and deployment—while ensuring accuracy, scalability, and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinical, regulatory, and product teams.

Necessary Qualifications

• PhD or MSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
• 5+ years of proven experience in a leading position (director level and above) of data science teams
• 7+ years of coding experience (ideally in Python)
• Expertise in DL architectures (such as CNN, RNN, foundation models) and frameworks (such as PyTorch and TensorFlow)
• Experience in analyzing time-series data, preferably electrophysiological signals (ECG, EEG, EMG)
• Proven expertise in ML techniques for the complete life cycle of data analysis: preprocessing, feature extraction, classical ML model training, and validation (using packages like Scikit-learn, AutoML packages, etc.)
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms for data management, model training, and deployment
• Proficiency in using data science management tools such as MLFlow, DVC, or ClearML
• Proficiency in setting up and maintaining data pipeline orchestration tools (such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect)
• Proficiency in containerization technologies, particularly Docker, for developing, deploying, and scaling data science solutions
• Excellent presentation, communication, and leadership skills

Strong Advantages

• Experience in the Health / Med Tech domains
• In-depth knowledge of DSP techniques for biological signals, preferentially ECG
• Familiarity with data science metrics for clinical domains (sensitivity, specificity, etc.)
• Understanding of clinical trial design
• Familiarity with regulations for medical software and AI
• Proven ability to stay updated with the latest advances in AI, ML, and healthcare technology
