Job Description

The Web Developer will play a crucial role in maintaining our web presence to effectively communicate our mission, engage our community, and support our fundraising and outreach goals. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong technical background, creative problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to excellence. Key Responsibilities:

• Website Development and Maintenance: * We intend to keep existing structure of the website so the developers responsibility is to maintain a robust, responsive, and visually appealing WordPress website that aligns with the organization’s branding and goals.
• Custom Theme and Plugin Development: Create custom themes and plugins to enhance website functionality and user experience.
• Content Management: Collaborate with content creators to ensure that website content is up-to-date, well-structured, and optimized for user engagement and SEO.
• Performance Optimization: Optimize website speed, scalability, and overall performance.
• Security Management: Implement and maintain security protocols to protect the website from threats and vulnerabilities.
• Analytics and Reporting: Monitor website performance metrics, generate reports, and provide insights to inform strategic decisions.
• Technical Support: Troubleshoot and resolve website issues promptly, ensuring minimal downtime.
  
  

• Proficiency in WordPress development, including custom theme and plugin development.
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL.
• Familiarity with front-end frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap) and modern JavaScript libraries (e.g., React, Vue.js).
• Experience with API integration and third-party tools (e.g., CRMs, donation platforms, and email marketing systems).
• Understanding of SEO best practices and tools like Google Analytics. Design and User Experience:
• Ability to translate design concepts into functional websites.
• Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Adobe Photoshop or Figma is a plus.
  
  

• Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills.
• Ability to analyze and solve complex technical challenges.
  
  

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, web development, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of professional WordPress development experience, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment.
• Familiarity with nonprofit-specific technologies such as donation platforms (e.g., GiveWP, Classy) and event management systems.
• Knowledge of nonprofit communications, including storytelling and community engagement strategies, is a plus.
