Optical sub-system integration and development

a biotechnology start-up company developing a ground-breaking technology for single-molecule protein detection.

We are looking for an outstanding scientist/engineer for a multidisciplinary position involving the integration

and development of our system with emphasis on the optical sub-system, based on a customized fluorescence microscope detection design.

The work includes:

· Building, refining, adjusting, calibrating the system for optimal performance of single biomolecule

fluorescence detection experiments in our platform.

· Perform molecular detection experiments to allow characterization and improvement of

the design

· Data analysis and troubleshooting is expected to be part of the routine activities

The optical system includes lasers, filters, optical components and image acquisition cameras.

Education and required Skills

· PhD in Physics, Biophysics or Equivalent Practical experience in related industry

· Minimum of 3 years of experience with designing and prototyping imaging/microscopy related

optical systems, particularly for fluorescence applications

· Deep understanding of optical components specifications, and ability to build and

troubleshoot based on a design, integrate and operate optical setups in the lab

· Knowledge and hands-on experience of working in a bio-lab environment: handling bio-molecules,

related biological/chemical reagents and related instruments, conduct experiments, record the results, analyze data and report

· Self-motivated with strong communication skills, ability to work in a highly multidisciplinary

technical team and work with sub-contractors

Desired Skills

· Experience with systems involving single-molecule sensing

· Previous experience in life science instrumentation / diagnostics systems and

measurement equipment development for life science a plus

· Deep understanding of the optics and physics related to fluorescence microscopy

systems and experience with optical modeling software
