Vice President Research And Development

Cardo Systems seeks an experienced Vice President (VP) of R&D to drive our research and development efforts and contribute to our vision of continuous leadership in innovation.

The VP of R&D will lead aspects of research and development activities, ensuring the delivery of cutting-edge products that meet our high standards and market demands.

This leadership role involves overseeing the R&D team, managing projects from conception to completion, and aligning the R&D strategy with our overall business objectives.

The VP of R&D will report to the CEO, be part of the management team, and play a pivotal role in shaping our company's future.

Responsibilities & Expertise

• Develop and execute the R&D strategy to support Cardo Systems’ business goals and technological leadership
• Lead a global team of about 60 employees and subcontractors across various domains, including mechanical, electrical, software, algorithm engineering, communication, safety, and sound in Israel and around the globe
• Lead and promote an environment encouraging innovation, teamwork, professionalism & ongoing improvement.
• Oversee the development of new products and enhancements to existing products, ensuring timely and on-budget completion
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Marketing, Operation, and Sales, to align product development with market needs
• Ensure that all R&D activities comply with industry standards and regulations
• Manage the R&D budget effectively, ensuring optimal resource allocation and return on investment
• Follow industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive activities
• Reduce cost of products and increase R&D efficiency using AI

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; MBA or Ph.D. is a plus
• Proven experience in senior R&D leadership roles, preferably in the consumer electronics
• Proven track record of successful product development and innovation for the mass market
• Strong background in software development for multidisciplinary products
• Excellent leadership, management, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to think strategically and execute methodically
• Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to overcoming challenges
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in managing algorithmic teams
• In-depth knowledge of wireless communication
• Familiarity with audio and signal processing
• Experience in leading the development of mobile applications and cloud services
• Solid background in AI
