Fermentation expert

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated fermentation expert with expertise in fungal mass production and product development. This role is key to designing, optimizing, and scaling fungal fermentation processes for the development of innovative biocontrol products. 

Responsibilities

Complete responsibility for development and maintenance of the company’s production process. 

Collaborate with R&D and production teams to research and integrate new technologies and improve process efficiency. 

Design and optimize the company’s fermentation process: 

• Develop scale up fermentation processes (solid-state and submerged fermentation) for fungi mass production and final products for industrial applications. 
• Operate and maintain bioreactors and laboratory equipment for effective fermentation operations. 
• Explore process parameters and media compositions to maximize productivity and product quality. 
• Design scalable bioprocesses for industrial applications, ensuring the processes meet the required standards. 
• Analyze process performance and troubleshoot challenges in fermentation systems. 
• Formulate the company’s final product/s. 
• Design experiments, drafting protocols and reports, recording, analyzing, and presenting experimental data. 

Skills

• Experience in agrifood/Agritech companies - advantage 
• At least 3 years’ experience developing and producing micro-organisms in fermentation processes. 
• Hand-on experience with bioreactor systems and solid-state fermentation technology. 
• Hand-on experience in formulation of biocontrol products - advantage 
• Hand-on experience in fungal organisms bioprocessing – advantage 
• Strong knowledge of microbial cultivation techniques and scaling processes 
• Hand-on experience in downstream processes of microorganism production and separation 

Qualifications

• Degree in Biology/Biotechnology/chemical engineering or a related field – must 
• M.Sc. in one of the above – advantage 
• Advanced courses in fermentation - advantage
