M.Sc. and Ph.D. POSITIONS IN ORGANIC GEOCHEMISTRY AT THE BEN-GURION UNIVERSITY OF THE NEGEV, ISRAEL

Two-year M.Sc. position and four-year Ph.D. position are opened at the Marine Laboratory headed by Prof. Alexey Kamyshny at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer Sheva, Israel. The students will participate in Israel Science Foundation funded project “Mechanistic and kinetic controls on sulfurization and desulfurization of sedimentary organic matter during early diagenesis”. The goal of this project is to understand mechanisms and rates of the reactions between reduced sulfur species and sedimentary organic matter (Zweig, I., Kamyshny Jr. A., 2024, Geochim. Cosmochim. Acta, 367, 16-28). Positions include research project as well as teaching and/or course administration. The total allowance (stipend and salary) is 67,000 NIS (~18,400$) per year for M.Sc. student and 78,000 NIS (~21,400$) per year for Ph.D. student. Positions starting date – 01/10/2025. Requirements for both positions:

- B.Sc. (or M.Sc.) in earth sciences or chemistry with proven background in analytical chemistry

- average B.Sc. (and M.Sc.) grade above 85 (or corresponding grade in other grading systems)

- fluency in written and spoken English

Preferred qualifications:

- hands-on expertise in chromatographic techniques

- hands-on expertise in mass-spectrometric techniques

- hands-on expertise in organic synthesis
