Role Overview

As our first BI Engineer, you will be responsible for setting up and scaling the data infrastructure, building robust BI solutions, and providing data insights that will drive key business decisions. You will work closely with product and engineering to define and implement data strategies to catapult FC forward. This is a highly impactful role with an opportunity to shape the data architecture and BI practices of a growing startup from the ground up.

What You'll Do

• Data Strategy & Architecture: Design and implement the overall BI architecture, from data ingestion to reporting, with scalability and flexibility in mind. Work with leadership to define the long-term data vision and strategy.
• Data Integration & ELT: Build and maintain data pipelines, integrating various data sources (internal and external) into a unified data warehouse. Ensure data is accurate, timely, and accessible.
• BI Reporting & Dashboards: Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights for executive leadership, and other teams.
• Data Modeling: Design data models and schemas that support analytics and BI needs. Build efficient and optimized data structures for reporting and analysis.
• Collaboration: Act as a key point of contact for data-related questions and projects. Work closely with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and deliver solutions that solve business problems.
• Data Governance & Quality: Establish data governance processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security. Implement data quality checks and ensure adherence to best practices.
• Advanced Analytics & Insights [a Plus]: Conduct exploratory data analysis and provide insights to support product development, customer segmentation, pricing strategies, risk management, and more.

About You

• Experience: 4+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, or a related field. Proven track record in setting up data infrastructure from the ground up.
• Experience in InsurTech, FinTech is a plus.
• Data Warehousing: Experience with data warehouse platforms like Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI. Strong SQL skills and experience with ETL tools (Airflow, DBT, etc.). Experience with cloud-based data platforms.
• Collaboration & Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Startup Mindset: Comfortable in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with the ability to work independently, take initiative, prioritize effectively, and wear multiple hats.
• Analytics & Problem-Solving [A Strong Plus]: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and translate business needs into actionable data insights.
