Head of Legal

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced VP Legal to lead and scale our legal department in a dynamic startup environment. This role will involve managing a team of 10 legal professionals and collaborating closely with various departments to provide comprehensive legal support. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in a fast-paced, high-growth startup, with a strong background in IP, AI research agreements, B2B partnerships, and legal operations.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the legal department, including 10 employees across various teams.
• Provide legal guidance on AI research agreements, intellectual property (IP), and technology licensing.
• Oversee the creation and negotiation of a wide range of contracts, including NDA agreements, partnership agreements, and B2B consulting contracts.
• Act as a legal advisor to the leadership team, providing strategic advice on key business decisions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure legal compliance and risk management across departments.
• Oversee legal operations, including departmental workflow, contract management, and streamlining legal processes.
• Serve as the go-to legal advisor for various departments, ensuring smooth communication and efficient resolution of legal matters.
• Manage the legal department's workload, priorities, and team performance.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in a similar role, ideally in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Extensive experience in drafting and negotiating IP agreements, AI research contracts, NDAs, partnership agreements, and B2B consulting contracts.
• Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and growing a legal team.
• Expertise in legal operations, including process optimization and legal technology tools.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
• Strong knowledge of royalties, copyright, and intellectual property law.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior management, especially in sales and product teams, to drive business initiatives.
• Experience working in or with startups, particularly in tech, AI, or similar fields, is essential.
• Fluency in English
