Purchasing Specialist - Power Quality & Electrical Systems

Job Purpose -

• The Senior Category Specialist is responsible for developing and managing strategies for a designated category of materials or equipment to enhance sourcing efficiency and support the business’s operational needs. This role involves close collaboration with various stakeholders to plan procurement needs, engage with the market, and advise on best practices for materials acquisition, particularly in voltage control, reactive power management, and power quality. The position plays a critical role in ensuring optimal planning, procurement, and execution for the Voltage-Reactive Power Systems and Power Quality aspects of the project.
  
  

• Lead the planning, development, standardization, and maintenance of strategies for voltage control, reactive power management, and power quality requirements.
• Act as the primary liaison between the business and external partners (OEMs, consultants) and internal teams (procurement, engineering, project execution) to communicate key requirements.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with voltage control and power quality issues, such as low-frequency oscillations in voltage-reactive systems.
• Work with planning teams to ensure appropriate design, equipment sizing, and ratings; oversee procurement, testing, and network performance validation for power quality systems.
• Lead the execution and integration of voltage control strategies to address power quality risks, and participate in network planning and modeling workshops with consultants and stakeholders.
• Develop and standardize Voltage-Reactive Power Systems strategies, organizing workshops with key stakeholders to ensure cohesive project delivery.
• Provide specialized advice on voltage control and power quality solutions through technical workshops, project integration, and execution consultations.
  
  

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with substantial experience in the electricity transmission industry, particularly within complex and large-scale systems.
• Extensive experience in procurement and materials management, ideally within a heavy engineering context, is highly preferred.
