Head of Development and Engineering

We are hiring a Head of Development and Engineering Solutions for the Engineering and Development Center of the Aviation Division.

What will you do:

• Overseeing implementation, development, manufacturing, integration, testing (including flight tests), demonstrations, delivery, and client support for rapid development projects, ensuring quality and customer satisfaction.
• Collaborating with various engineering departments within the organization.
• Presenting projects to clients, addressing both technical and business aspects.
• Developing detailed work plans.
• Working with diverse clients and managing subcontractors.
• Managing extensive infrastructure systems supporting development processes.
• Combining office and fieldwork activities.
• Leading a multidisciplinary development team comprising aeronautics/mechanical engineers, software engineers, and technicians.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Academic degree in Aeronautics/Mechanical Engineering OR an alternative academic degree with certification as an external or internal UAV operator and hands-on experience in UAV development, operation, and piloting.
• At least 5 years of experience managing development projects for complex airborne systems (System of Systems), overseeing end-to-end project phases.
• At least 5 years of experience working with clients, including:
• Defining requirements and negotiating financial and contractual terms.
• Writing responses to operational requirements and preparing price quotes (familiarity with IAI systems is advantageous).
• Budget management, schedule planning, and risk management.
• Experience managing suppliers.

Additional Criteria (Advantage):

• Experience integrating complex systems, including aeromechanics, hardware, and software.
• Familiarity with operational concepts and translating them into technical and programmatic solutions.
• High technical expertise in aviation, particularly unmanned systems.
• Operational experience (e.g., key roles in Air Force squadrons such as external/internal UAV operators or command positions).
• Experience with flight test procedures, including coordination with the Israeli Civil Aviation Authority and the Air Force.
• Proven ability to lead diverse multidisciplinary teams (engineers, technicians, and flight-line staff) for rapid development projects (Skunkworks).
• Interests in relevant fields such as model aviation, robotics, or piloting licenses.
