About the position

We have reached an exciting stage where we are looking for our first VP of R&D to lead our growing R&D department and join our leadership team. As a VP of R&D, you will play a critical role in driving our technological vision and strategy. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Shaping and executing our R&D strategy to support the company's vision and spearhead our product development and future of products. This includes setting long-term goals, defining research and development priorities, and aligning them with business objectives.
• Leading a multidisciplinary department, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration while mentoring the team to tackle daily tech challenges. You will oversee the recruitment, development, and retention of top talent within the R&D department.
• Serving as a vital bridge between the R&D department, executive leadership, and other departments to discover innovative solutions and ensure seamless communication and alignment. You will work closely with Product, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success teams to integrate R&D efforts with company-wide initiatives.
• Driving the innovation pipeline and ensuring the development of cutting-edge technologies. You will be responsible for identifying emerging trends and opportunities, conducting feasibility studies, and ensuring the successful implementation of innovative solutions.
• One of your first challenges will be building and expanding your department in collaboration with the CTO. This includes defining roles, establishing processes, and setting up the necessary infrastructure to support a high-performing R&D team.

What we're looking for:

• Previous experience in VP of R&D positions or equivalent, preferably in startups that scaled to large companies. Proven track record of leading R&D initiatives, developing strategies, and executing projects from concept to completion.
• Proficiency in at least one of the following: Fullstack development / Data Engineering / Deep Learning
• Previous experience in developing SaaS applications is a plus
• Previous experience in the Martech field is a plus
• Entrepreneurial leader with excellent communication skills, who has a demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams, and a natural ability to inspire, drive and motivate different teams towards common goals.
• A strategic thinker with a data-oriented approach, a strong problem-solving mindset and resilience while facing challenges in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
