About the job

As a Quantum Applications Scientist, your main goal will be to help our customers overcome challenges in their quantum computing research by utilizing Qedma’s quantum error mitigation software. You will collaborate with customers and other researchers at Qedma to apply error mitigation techniques to improve performance of quantum algorithms and enable new applications of quantum computing with near-term quantum devices.

Your Responsibilities Include:

• Meeting with customers to understand their research needs. Reviewing literature and optimizing or developing new quantum algorithms to enhance performance on real quantum hardware with error mitigation.
• Implementing and running proof-of-concept (POC) demonstrations of various quantum algorithms in simulations and on real quantum hardware, leveraging Qedma’s error mitigation tools.
• Researching, developing, and testing POCs for new features to support additional use cases or enhance performance.
• Working closely with our software team to define new features required for customer use cases or for enabling new capabilities.

About you

• PhD in quantum computing, physics, computer science, or a related field; or MSc with relevant experience.
• Strong programming skills in Python, including familiarity with the Python data stack.
• Expertise in one or more of the following fields is a strong plus: quantum algorithms research, materials science, quantum chemistry, theoretical condensed matter physics, classical optimization problems.
• Experience with simulations of quantum circuits or physical systems is an advantage.
• Willingness to “get your hands dirty” with technical tasks to achieve your goals (e.g., writing code, understanding others' code, diving into the codebase, setting up environments, solving annoying bugs, etc.).
• Excellent technical and scientific communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Willingness to travel to different locations worldwide to meet with customers.
