Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Camera Hardware Tech Lead to spearhead the innovation, development & deployment of world-beating technologies in the field of Optical imaging & computational photography within our R&D group

. This individual will contribute to establishing a new R&D team within SRIL. A unique advantage of this role is the proximity to our open innovation team, providing collaborative opportunities to explore and integrate the latest advancements in camera technologies into Samsung products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ideate & Lead the design & development of new camera concepts
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the integration of new technologies and innovations into camera hardware.
• Establish and lead a new R&D group focused on optics and camera hardware within SRIL.
• Oversee prototyping, testing, and validation processes for camera modules, ensuring optimal performance and quality.
• Stay up to date with the latest trends in camera and optics hardware technologies and contribute to long-term R&D strategies.
• Conduct complete analysis of optical elements performance and their impact on camera module image quality.
• Define metrology, request and analyse data to resolve supplier-related issues.
• Communicate design decisions effectively to cross-functional teams.
• Oversee the production process to ensure design quality and integration of camera lenses into modules.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in camera hardware design, Optical imaging, computational photography, Optical simulation.
• Advanced degree in a related field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics).
• Hands-on experience with Zemax – a must.
• Ability to perform comprehensive optical and image quality characterization of lenses and camera modules.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to innovate in a fast-paced environment.
• Expertise in lens design, diffractive optics, tolerance analysis, and stray light analysis.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Strong expertise in the magnetic, electronic, and control aspects of camera modules. Familiarity with Israeli high-tech ecosystems and the ability to evaluate new technologies for integration.
• Strong understanding of optical systems and sensor technology.
• Experience with RGB sensor technologies, including integration, calibration, and performance optimization for camera modules.
• Familiarity with advanced image processing algorithms and AI-driven camera features.
• Experience leading or managing technical teams in an R&D setting.
