We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Lab Technician to join our team focused on developing high-performance DSP (Digital Signal Processing) chips for the optical transceiver market. The Lab Technician will be responsible for supporting testing, troubleshooting, and validation processes, managing lab assets, and assisting in laboratory expansion efforts. This role requires knowledge of purchasing lab equipment, establishing new lab setups, and maintaining an organized, calibrated, and efficient lab environment.

What You'll Do

• Test and Measurement: Perform electrical and optical testing of DSP chips and optical transceiver modules, ensuring accurate and reproducible results.
• Lab Setup and Maintenance: Set up, maintain, and regularly calibrate lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, signal generators, network analyzers, optical power meters, and BERTs (Bit Error Rate Testers).
• Inventory and Lab Organization: Manage the inventory of chips, devices, cards, and other lab assets, ensuring organized storage and effective asset tracking.
• Purchasing and Lab Establishment: Assist in the selection, procurement, and setup of new lab equipment and instruments. Participate in establishing new lab facilities, ensuring optimal layout and workflow for efficiency.
• RMA and Asset Management: Oversee the return and management of chips and equipment from RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) and manage outgoing deliveries of equipment to customers.
• Data Collection and Analysis: Record and analyze test data, generate reports, and document findings to support the engineering team in troubleshooting and optimization.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose issues in test setups and equipment, identifying potential root causes and assisting engineers in debugging DSP and transceiver-related issues.
• Collaboration: Work closely with engineers to implement testing protocols, evaluate results, and improve testing methodologies to meet evolving requirements.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure lab practices comply with safety protocols and industry standards, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  
  

What You'll Need:

• Education: Associate degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Optics, or a related field. A bachelor’s degree is a plus.
• Experience: 2+ years of experience in a lab environment, preferably within the semiconductor or optical communications industry.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers), knowledge of optical transceiver testing, and familiarity with DSP principles is highly desirable.
• Purchasing and Lab Setup Knowledge: Experience with laboratory purchasing processes and establishing new lab setups.
• Calibration and Maintenance: Knowledge and experience with regular calibration of lab equipment to ensure accurate testing and measurement.
• Organizational Skills: Knowledge of lab organization and inventory management, with experience in establishing and maintaining organized lab workflows.
• RMA and Equipment Delivery: Experience in managing RMA processes and handling customer equipment deliveries is a plus.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and communicate findings effectively.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to setup, testing, and documentation.
• Teamwork: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with engineers and other team members.
  
  

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with DSP technologies and optical fiber communications.
• Experience with automated testing equipment or programming skills (Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW).
• Knowledge of semiconductor and transceiver industry standards and compliance testing.
