Science & Technology Manager, Meat Alternatives

How You Will Make a Difference: In this role, you will engage with scientists, universities, startups, corporations, research funding organizations, and policymakers in Israel to catalyze the alternative proteins ecosystem.

The Science & Technology Manager, Meat Alternatives will be responsible for:

• Identifying challenges and opportunities in reaching taste parity of meat alternatives, while staying consistently updated on advancements in the field.
• Engaging in both independent and collaborative research to expand knowledge in alternative proteins.
• Conducting hands-on R&D to enhance the taste, texture, and nutritional profile of meat alternatives.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams, fellow researchers, and industry partners to drive innovation.
• Designing, executing, and analyzing experiments, interpreting results, and drafting comprehensive reports and publications.
• Creating open-access resources to support and inform the ecosystem.
• Inspiring and equipping future researchers and innovators through academic outreach and community building.
• Delivering scientific lectures and providing expert consultations to academia and industry stakeholders.
• Supporting GFI's global SciTech teams, as well as local communication efforts and innovation support for startups.
• Supporting SciTech department projects and initiatives as needed.

The Science & Technology Manager, Meat Alternatives must have:

• A Doctorate in a relevant Life Science discipline (e.g., food engineering, biology, chemistry, bioengineering) or a Master’s degree in one of these fields, combined with experience in meat alternative development, bioprocess production, and scale-up within the alternative protein industry.
• In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in the development and production of meat alternatives.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in research methodologies.
• Proven experience in fostering partnerships between academia and industry.
• A creative and scientific mindset with a passion for continuous learning.
• Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Hebrew.
• Effective communication and relationship-building skills, with an organized and detail-oriented approach.
• Confidence in public speaking.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, set priorities, and manage competing deadlines.
• Alignment with GFI’s philosophy and the ability to professionally represent its positions.
• Commitment to the organization’s mission and goals.

Terms of Employment: Full-time

Reports to: VP Science and Technology

Location: Hybrid, 2-3 days a week in Tel Aviv/Haifa
