We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated DevOps Engineer to join a dynamic and innovative team in a large, stable public sector organization. This role requires someone with strong expertise in CI/CD processes, Jenkins pipelines, and scripting, with a hands-on approach to system management and automation.

Role Overview:

As a DevOps Engineer, you will work closely with development and operations teams to manage and optimize deployment processes, including CI/CD pipelines, automation, and system monitoring. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Jenkins, CI/CD, Ansible, and be proficient in scripting with Python and Groovy. You will also be responsible for working with containers and Docker, ensuring smooth deployment, automation, and scalability of the organization’s services.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, ensuring fast, reliable, and automated deployments.
• Write and optimize Groovy and Python scripts for automation and system management.
• Work closely with development teams to understand workflows and ensure continuous delivery.
• Manage and maintain containers and Docker environments for deployment and scalability.
• Use Ansible for configuration management and automation tasks.
• Collaborate directly with team members to troubleshoot and solve problems in production environments.
• Maintain a strong understanding of system hierarchies and ensure smooth operations with minimal downtime.
• Contribute to ongoing DevOps improvements, focusing on scalability and reliability.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Strong CI/CD expertise, especially with Jenkins and building deployment pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with Groovy and Python for writing automation scripts.
• Experience with Ansible for configuration management.
• Experience working with containers and Docker (Kubernetes experience is a plus).
• Understanding of NixOS or similar Linux-based environments.
• Ability to understand and implement complex system hierarchies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to roll up your sleeves and work closely with the team to tackle challenges.

Nice to Have:

• Experience working in a cloud environment (though this role is not cloud-focused at the moment, it will be part of future plans).
• Knowledge of Gira (issue tracking and project management) for maintaining tasks and sprint progress.
