Backend Engineering Team Lead

As a Backend Engineering Team Lead at Via, you'll join an energetic and dynamic team, taking on a pivotal role in driving our innovative projects forward. You will be part of a highly talented and motivated development team responsible for Via's Rider Management system. This role involves leading a team of backend engineers, ensuring the delivery of high-performance, scalable services, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our backend infrastructure and development processes.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and manage a team of Backend engineers, overseeing the development of scalable microservices and core infrastructure components
• Design and implement robust, high-performance backend architectures using Python and AWS services
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure system integration and optimal performance
• Develop, own, and execute the team's technical roadmap, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals
• Drive technical decisions around system architecture, infrastructure, and development practices
• Play a central role in managing, coaching, and fostering the growth of your engineering team
• Guide and mentor team members in backend development best practices, system design, and cloud architecture
  
  

Who You Are:

• 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership role managing backend engineering teams
• 7+ years of software development experience with strong focus on backend systems
• 4+ years of experience with Python development in production environments
• 3+ years of experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure
• 4+ years of experience with Microservices architecture and development at scale
• Strong experience with Relational DBs and database optimization
• Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration - Advantage
• BSc. in Computer Science or equivalent - Advantage
