Team8-Head of AI

About The Position

We’re seeking a visionary Head of AI to spearhead the artificial intelligence transformation across our foundries and portfolio companies, driving change through applied research, thought leadership, strategy, and internal and external evangelism.

Team8 is a company-building venture group with deep domain expertise that builds companies and invests in companies specializing in cybersecurity, Fintech, data, and Digital Health. Leveraging its in-house, multi-disciplinary team of company-builders integrated with a dedicated community of C-level executives and thought leaders, Team8’s model is designed to outline big problems, ideate solutions, and help accelerate success through technology, market fit, and talent acquisition.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI strategy and implementation across our foundries, portfolio companies, and internal operations, focusing on cybersecurity, data infrastructure, fintech, and digital health
• Identify and pursue new company-building opportunities at the intersection of AI and our core domains
• Develop AI approaches and applied frameworks to enhance our investment platform, ideation, company creation processes, and portfolio company operations
• Drive continuous AI knowledge acquisition across our organization and portfolio to future-proof our ecosystem, ensuring we stay at the forefront of AI advancements and industry trends
• Collaborate with investment professionals, technical teams, and entrepreneurs to integrate AI across our activities while driving thought leadership and providing strategic insights to partners, portfolio executives, and industry stakeholders

Requirements

• Minimum five years of practical experience in designing, implementing, and deploying machine learning models in professional settings
• Deep expertise in classical ML, deep learning, and NLP, with a strong understanding of algorithms, optimization methods, and model evaluation techniques
• At least one year of hands-on experience, specifically in generative AI, including LLM integration, prompt engineering, chain-of-thought techniques, and RAG implementation
• Strong verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively
• Track record of leading AI initiatives and driving innovation in previous roles.
• Experience or a strong understanding of the venture capital ecosystem and startup operations is highly desirable.
• Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field preferred
