Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Camera Senior Engineering Lead, ML & Computer Vision to lead and manage the development of next-generation machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI algorithms for advanced camera systems and photo technologies. This role requires a deep technical background, combined with strong leadership and management skills to drive both strategic innovation and the successful execution of product development. As the technical and managerial leader of our Camera R&D team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of camera technologies at Samsung, mentoring engineers, and guiding projects from research to market-ready products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership and management to a multidisciplinary team of engineers and researchers, guiding the development of advanced CV, ML, DL, and generative AI algorithms for camera systems and photo enhancement features.
• Drive the innovation and execution of algorithms for image & video processing, image restoration object recognition, and scene understanding, pushing the boundaries of camera performance.
• Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of machine learning and deep learning projects, from ideation and research to product deployment, ensuring the delivery of robust and scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Samsung to integrate ML/DL algorithms into hardware and software platforms, ensuring successful product development and deployment.
• Lead the optimization of large-scale machine learning models, including large language models (LLMs), and apply parameter-efficient techniques to improve performance.
• Take ownership of the management and processing of large datasets, ensuring efficient workflows and the continuous improvement of ML models.
• Develop and implement a long-term technical strategy for camera and machine learning technologies, aligning R&D efforts with business goals and market trends.
• Mentor, coach, and manage junior and senior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.
• Stay at the forefront of developments in machine learning, computer vision, and deep learning, and drive the adoption of emerging technologies that can elevate Samsung’s camera solutions.
• Contribute to decisions on technology roadmaps and R&D investment to ensure long-term success in camera technologies.

Qualifications:

• 15+ years of industry experience in machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, or related fields, with a strong track record in delivering ML solutions to production.
• Proven experience in leading and managing engineering teams, including mentoring and professional development of team members.
• Expertise in developing and deploying ML/DL-based software applications for camera systems, image processing, or video analysis.
• Hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs) and advanced optimization techniques.
• Strong applied software engineering skills, with experience in agile methodologies and quality-driven development practices.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional collaborations and manage relationships across engineering, product, and business teams.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges and deliver innovative solutions.
• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with a focus on machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision.

Preferred:

• Experience in camera / depth cameras domain
• Experience in a global technology environment, with proven success in managing international teams and projects.
• Expertise in generative AI and its application to multimedia processing.
