Class: Introduction to Coding

Location: Hatsfira St. 18, Tel Aviv. 

Commitment: 2 hour class each week for at least 12 weeks. 

Organization Background: 

The African Refugee Development Center (ARDC) is a grassroots non-profit founded in 2004 by African asylum-seekers and Israelis. It provides support and empowerment for asylum-seekers in Israel, focusing on education and economic inclusion.

Position Overview: 

We are seeking an engaging Python Coding Instructor to teach an introductory course covering the basics of Python programming, designed to empower students with little to no coding experience. The instructor will create a supportive and engaging learning environment while fostering the development of coding and problem-solving skills. This role will play a key part in empowering students to gain valuable skills that can open new career opportunities in technology.

• Develop the provided lesson plan on Python fundamentals, including variables, loops, functions, and basic algorithms.
• Adapt teaching methods to suit students with limited or no prior coding experience, ensuring an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Provide hands-on coding exercises and real-world projects to enhance learning outcomes and practical skills.
• Assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback and additional support when necessary.
• Collaborate with ARDC/Schoolhouse staff to align course content with organizational goals and student needs.

• Proficiency in Python programming with a strong understanding of coding fundamentals and best practices.
• Prior teaching experience, preferably with diverse or disadvantaged populations.
• Strong English communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in simple, accessible terms.
• Patience, empathy, and cultural sensitivity to work effectively with students from various backgrounds.
• Experience working as a programmer is an advantage.
