Head of Engineering

We are a small team of data scientists, researchers, and product leaders transforming how science is understood, evaluated, and applied across various domains. Backed by leading investors, we are currently in stealth mode, leveraging advanced machine learning and large language models (LLMs) to revolutionize research.

What are we looking for?

We’re seeking a hands-on Head of Engineering to lead our engineering efforts. As a foundational member, you'll work closely with our AI function and take ownership of building out our technical architecture. This role demands a blend of technical expertise and leadership to guide complex projects from concept to deployment.

About the role:

• Design and build scalable, high-performance systems to support our product's growth.
• Collaborate with AI teams to ensure product roadmap execution
• Establish best practices for CI/CD processes, system observability, and SDLC
• Lead by example, driving innovation through hands-on work with AWS and Kubernetes.
• Recruit and build an engineering team while contributing to multiple full-stack projects.

Technical Requirements:

• Proficient with AWS/ GCP / Azure and automation tools.
• Strong back-end (Python/ Node.js / Java / .net core) and front-end (React / Angular ) 
• Proven track record building scalable web platforms in production environments.
• Experience designing APIs.
• Data engineering experience - an advantage 

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of software development experience, building scalable systems.
• 3+ years of leadership experience, managing teams and technical managers.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to break down complex requirements.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Extensive experience developing production-ready web applications from scratch.
