Intellectual Property Analyst/Manager

Amai, an innovative protein design biotech startup, seeks a manager to administrate and consolidate the company’s intellectual property projects across different departments. Amai computationally designs novel proteins for food and beverage applications, as well as food formulation and products incorporating sweet designer proteins. The proteins are produced via microbial precision fermentation and embedded into tasty applications. The first product, sweelin®, is a healthy, tasty, sustainable, and affordable sugar substitute.

Part- time / Full- time position

Responsibilities:

• Consolidate R&D data required for patent applications
• Manage new IP applications, coordinating the process with colleagues and suppliers
• Correspond internally, with R&D personnel, and externally, with patent attorneys and paralegals, pushing forward existing and new patent applications
• Examine and monitor existing IP to better understand the needs in the industry
• Curate and manage of in-house datasets of patents and R&D developments
• Communicate with scientists from different disciplines
• Administrate the IP pipeline

Requirements:

• M.Sc. in biology / biotechnology / food technology AND/OR B.A. or higher degree in law / patents
• Deep understanding of biology, and preferably also of food technology/nutrition
• Experience in patent work (reviewing, writing, editing, researching, and so on)
• Experience in end-to-end project management, including the ability to plan, execute, monitor, and successfully close projects
• Excellent organizational and people skills
• Fluency in reading, writing and speaking in English
• Additional language - advantage
