Mechanical Engineer

Full responsibility for designing portions of engineering solutions, developing and implementing parameters and test plans, and conducting feasibility studies. The role applies an intermediate level of subject matter knowledge to design, analyze, build, and test mechanical components. The role participates in project teams with internal and outsourced partners to develop reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions. The role manages relationships with partners and suppliers, oversees design engineering change processes, and drives value engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Designs portions of engineering solutions for mechanical and thermal hardware, electronics enclosures, and production tooling based on established engineering principles and in accordance with development technology practices and guidelines.
• Develops and implements parameters and test plans for existing designs, including validation of tolerances, form/fit/function, shock and vibration, electromagnetic interference, safety, reliability, developing fan curves, system power measurements & acoustics.
• Conducts feasibility studies, design margin and validation analyses and empirical testing on new and modified designs.
• Performs root cause analysis of defects, propose, evaluate and implement solutions.
• Works in a collaborative environment to design, analyze, build and test mechanical components, devices, structures and assemblies, including mechanical ground support equipment.
  
  

• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
• Typically has 2-4 years of work experience, preferably in engineering design and solutions, implementation across hardware development lifecycle, or a related field or an advanced degree with little or no work experience.
