Product Team Leader

A large financial company is looking for a Data Product Team Leader

As the Data Product Team Leader, you will lead a team of Data Product Managers, guiding them in integrating data-driven insights into our product development processes. You will oversee strategic data projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and be responsible for establishing robust data governance frameworks across the organization. This role involves driving the creation of a single source of truth for company data, enhancing data transparency, and ensuring the seamless integration of data products that are both user-friendly and aligned with business needs. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders, to ensure data integrity and consistency throughout the product lifecycle

Responsibilities:

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Data Product Managers, providing strategic direction, support, and fostering a collaborative environment.

Oversee the execution of data product strategies across various business areas, ensuring they align with the overall business goals.

Drive the adoption of best practices in data management, governance, and product development within the team.

Lead and manage key data initiatives, including the mapping and defining of data needs, establishing a single source of truth for the company, and building a transparent and user-friendly business view.

Oversee the development and implementation of data conventions, collection requirements, and naming standards across all processes and products.

Ensure that data products are designed to be intuitive, user-friendly, and meet the needs of target users while maintaining high data quality standards.

Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between data product managers and other cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and business teams.

Work closely with stakeholders to ensure that data-related initiatives are aligned with broader business goals and product objectives.

Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging data technologies, and best practices in data governance and product management.

Analyze data to identify areas for improvement, implement necessary changes, and ensure the timely and high-quality execution of data-related projects.

Requirements:

Minimum of 6 years of experience in data product management, data governance, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

Proven experience leading strategic data projects, including mapping and defining data needs, establishing a single source of truth, and building a transparent business view.

Strong understanding of data conventions, collection requirements, and naming standards, with experience in ensuring data quality and consistency across products.

Proficiency in SQL and data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R), with a solid understanding of data engineering and data science methodologies.

Experience with data governance tools and frameworks, and a deep understanding of data technologies.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business solutions.

Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple stakeholders.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business, or a related field.
