Job Description: Tissue Culture Researcher, Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology

Protalix Biotherapeutics is a leader in developing innovative protein therapeutics using our proprietary ProCellEx® plant cell-based expression system. We are seeking a highly motivated Tissue Culture Researcher to join our R&D department in Karmiel, Israel.

In this role, you will take part in advancing our innovative pipeline for rare diseases by optimizing plant cell culture systems and protein expression.

Responsibilities:

• Design and conduct experiments to optimize plant cell culture conditions for protein expression
• Develop and maintain plant cell lines
• Analyze and interpret data on cell growth, viability, and protein production
• Manage research projects under tight timelines and contribute to the development of new research protocols
• Implement new technologies and troubleshoot challenges related to plant cell culture and protein expression
• Collaborate effectively with scientists, engineers, and other team members
• Document research activities and maintain accurate records

Qualifications:

Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Plant Science, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field

Proven experience in cell culture techniques, including maintaining and manipulating plant cell lines

• Experience in optimizing recombinant protein expression in plant cells is a strong plus
• Passion for hands-on research and a strong desire to contribute to breakthrough discoveries
• Deep knowledge in the following is an advantage:

# Plant cell culture media and plant hormones

# Plant growth and development processes under controlled conditions

• Experience with bioreactors for large-scale plant cell culture systems is a plus
• Research planning and management skills, including experience in designing and conducting experiments, analyzing and interpreting data, and managing projects
• Excellent technical skills - experience working hands on with advanced laboratory equipment
• Ability to solve problems creatively and efficiently
• Independence and team work - ability to work independently alongside the ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment
• Vision and creativity - creative thinking and the ability to promote innovative ideas
• Diligence and high work ethics - Highly motivated and results-oriented with strong work ethics. Eager to contribute to the team's success and advancement of company goals
