VP R&D (for one of our portfolio companies)

Position Overview:

As a Vice President of R&D , you will be a key driver of technical excellence and innovation within our organization. Operating at the intersection of leadership and hands-on technical expertise, you will guide and influence the development of cutting-edge solutions. This role requires a strong leader who can mentor and motivate teams, make difficult decisions when necessary, and translate goals into measurable and actionable KPIs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and support a highly effective team of passionate engineers fostering a high-performance culture.
• Responsible for ensuring that the product vision is realized through excellence in execution
• Build cross-department relationships focused on executing company strategy
• Drive technical excellence by establishing best practices and encouraging innovation within the engineering team.
• Set and translate high-level goals into measurable and actionable KPIs that guide the team’s performance.
• Identify, recruit, and retain top talent while fostering a culture of accountability
• Contribute to technical engineering designs, resource management and implementations

Qualifications:

• At least 15+ years software engineering and R&D leadership experience. (direct management).
• Proven experience in scaling and managing large engineering teams in dynamic, fast-moving environments.
• Technical expertise that enables meaningful conversations with product architects & engineers
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build productive cross-departmental relationships and motivate team members.
• Positive, can-do attitude and value collaboration a must
