Overview
The Senior Inventory Officer oversees the inventory control system, ensuring accurate records, timely reports, and efficient resource use. He/she collaborates with the Admin Manager to develop and implement inventory policies and procedures. Additionally, he/she provides inventory management support to the Jhpiego Afghanistan office, working proactively with the Administration Manager to manage inventory tasks and support administrative functions. This Position is based in Kabul Afghanistan
Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
- Process daily inventory transactions, ensuring they are linked to the appropriate accounts, and maintain precise records of the physical inventory of nonexpendable supplies.
- Prepare inventory reports biweekly, monthly, and annual basis. Ensure that a physical inventory of equipment and furniture is conducted quarterly and accurately updated in the database.
- Develop and implement inventory control and procedures; track and monitor inventory status, supply usage, and trends.
- Evaluate excess and obsolete inventory, provide recommendation as per policies, and track trends.
- Maintain organized, legible, and accurate inventory records, updating regularly.

Equipment Handling
- Verify and receive new equipment purchases, adding them to the inventory database.
- Manage asset tagging for computers, printers, and other IT equipment.
- Oversee the repair order process for broken equipment and furniture.
- Allocate project equipment (excluding IT equipment) to expatriate and local staff.
- Ensure adherence to USAID guidelines regarding the handling, management and disposition of Equipment and donations.
- Locate and tag new capital equipment.
- Review and verify departmental equipment inventory for compliance with Jhpiego/JHU policies
- Oversee the disposition of assets all the time.
- Communicate frequently with staff regarding inventory records and equipment.
- Reconcile equipment with the finance department.
- Organize and maintain a network of contact staff in each department.
- Perform data processing to input new asset information, update changes, and create equipment lists.
- Research files to track equipment orders.
- Determine the classification of equipment as capital equipment and or other assets.
- Perform any other tasks that support the overall project, as assigned by the supervisor.
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree from a recognized university, with at least 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the non-profit or development sector.
- Excellent organizational and administrative/management skills.
- Strong analytical and supervisory skills.
- Ability to synthesize complex concepts and communicate them effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Competence in computer skills, including word processing, Excel, internet, and email.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, Dari, and/or Pashto.
- Ability to manage day-to-day interactions with external service providers and analyze their performance.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a service-oriented outlook.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a complex and rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to work effectively in teams as well as independently.
