The BIRD Foundation, a key facilitator of U.S.-Israel collaboration in cutting-edge innovation, is seeking a highly qualified Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our dynamic team. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the CFO will play a pivotal role in overseeing all financial aspects of our organization, working closely with the executive team to ensure sound financial planning and management that supports our mission.
Responsibilities:
1. Financial Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and lead the implementation of the foundation's financial strategy, aligning it with our mission, goals, and objectives.
- Conduct financial analysis, forecasting, and modeling to support strategic decision-making and drive the foundation’s financial growth.
2. Budgeting and Financial Management:
- Develop, monitor, and maintain the foundation's annual budget and long-term financial plans.
- Oversee financial operations, including financial reporting, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, tax compliance, and audits.
- Ensure the foundation's financial policies, procedures, and internal controls are in place and followed consistently.
3. Grant Management:
- Provide expertise and guidance on grant strategies, working closely with the team on proposal reviews and evaluations.
- Manage the financial aspects of all ongoing projects and ensure compliance with foundation regulations and tracking of commercial results of the projects.
- Oversee the foundation's endowment and investment portfolios, regularly reporting and evaluating their performance to the Board of Directors.
4. Legal Affairs:
· Oversee all contracting and legal matters for the foundation, working in collaboration with the foundation’s legal advisors.
Requirements:
1. Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA and/or CPA preferred).
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, preferably within the investment sector.
- Previous experience in a senior financial management role, such as CFO, Controller, or Treasurer.
2. Financial Leadership and Strategic Thinking:
- Strong financial acumen, with the ability to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the foundation's mission and goals.
- Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and reporting.
- Strategic thinker, skilled at providing financial insights to support organizational decision-making.
3. Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- Team player with the ability to collaborate across all functions in the organization to align efforts towards optimal solutions and strategic goals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Hebrew, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners and companies.
4. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
- Process oriented with experience in process improvement and automation.
5. Ethical Conduct:
- Uncompromising integrity and a strong commitment to the highest ethical standards.
- Transparent leadership, with a focus on accountability and responsible financial stewardship.
