What's Guardio?

Guardio is a cyber security startup that develops tools and products to combat modern web and mobile threats. We provide protection against phishing, crypto and tech support scams, malicious extensions, browser hijacking, and much more. Guardio is still a relatively small company (we’re less than 90 people), but we’re growing fast, and we’re looking for core team members. We already have over a million registered customers and many new features and products in the pipeline.

Well, yes, but maybe that's not what you’re thinking. Guardio offers security and privacy solutions directly to consumers—regular people, not big corporate companies. We don't operate in the shadows; we’re a product company. We create products you’d want your kids, your parents, and your grandparents to use. Our goal is to protect real people from real cyber problems and actual crime. Guardio is a freemium product, meaning we have to offer real, tangible value to succeed.

Let's cut to the chase. What's the job?

We are looking for a Principal Engineer to join our R&D team and work closely with our VP R&D.

You will:

• Design, implement, and lead strategic projects requiring innovative problem-solving and rapid prototyping to address urgent business needs or explore new technological opportunities.
• Identify and resolve complex, high-impact issues and bugs in production.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to fellow engineers, leveling up their technical skills
• Teach best practices, lead training sessions & workshops, and conduct code reviews to ensure devs deliver high-quality, simple code that everyone loves.
• Take an active part in contributions to the overall architecture and technical direction of the company’s products.
• Drive continuous improvement in software development processes and methodologies.

Sounds great! Am I the right fit?

Well, our guess is you have a good chance of being that person if you check as many of these as possible:

• 2+ years as a technical leader or principal engineer
• At least 6 years of backend development experience
• Familiarity with frontend frameworks and infrastructure (React)
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, TypeScript, Golang, or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of software development methodologies, tools, and frameworks.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and high-scale microservice architecture.
