Image Sensor Characterization Engineer (Haifa - Israel)

ON Semiconductor offers an exciting opportunity in its Image Sensor Technology Development Group for a highly motivated Intern in Image Sensor Characterization.

Job Summary:

As an Image Sensor Characterization Intern you will be responsible for bringing up, characterizing & optimizing the electro-optical performance of ON Semiconductor’s state of the art optical sensors: Image Sensors, Pixels, SPADs, and SiPMs. In this role you will engage in data collection, data analysis, Python scripting, and test automation. You will rely on know-how in Statistics, Semiconductor physics, electronics, and electro-optics in order to make a significant impact on the design and operation of the company’s new products and technologies.

In this multidisciplinary role you will collaborate with design, system, and application engineers, and will gain deep and broad understanding of image sensors & advanced pixels. This is a unique opportunity to join a new lab, bring up the equipment and the team and to make a real and long-lasting impact on the company and its product lines.

Responsibilities

• Characterizing pixel / SPAD / SiPM performance in the wafer, packaged device, and system level.
• Optimizing system performance (voltage levels, settings, timing diagrams) based on insights from characterization data.
• Collecting and analyzing large-scale characterization data in the wafer, packaged device, and system level.
• Writing Python code (scripts and drivers) for image processing, automation, data collection, and data analysis.
• Bringing up, calibrating, and maintaining complex electro-optical characterization systems, lab setups and characterization code repositories.
• Presenting data and communicating with management and engineering teams from various disciplines.
  
  

Qualifications

• Familiarity with electro-optics system characterization and electro-optics lab work.
• Familiarity with image sensors or camera characterization is a strong advantage.
• Familiarity with active optical depth-sensing systems such as Structured Light, indirect/direct Time-of-Flight, LIDAR, is a strong advantage.
• Data-analysis, scripting (Python preferred), and test equipment automation capabilities are required.
• Familiarity with semiconductor physics and electronics is an advantage.
• Strong self-management skills, analytical & problem solving, and the ability to deliver on schedule.
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills (in English) is required. The role involves extensive communication with multiple teams across various time zones.
• 3 rd /4 th year B.Sc. student, or Post-Grad student in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
