Postdoctoral Researcher

The Fluid Mechanics Laboratory (FMLab) at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at Technion—Israel Institute of Technology has fully funded postdoc position.

Research topic:

Skin friction field measurement over arbitrary 3D geometries.

This wind-tunnel experimental study will focus on the development of skin friction field measurement procedure coupled with stereo PIV measurements over arbitrary complex 3D geometries for a wide range of Mach numbers focusing on geometries relevant to flight vehicles.

The new method will allow for insight into the intricate relations between the on-and-off-surface flow structures and the obtaining of quantified data on their behavior. It will also be used to complement and validate CFD simulations of high-speed flows over complex 3D surfaces.

Requirements:

1.     PhD in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or a closely related degree.

2.     Relevant experimental and theoretical background.

3.     At least one Q1-ranked journal publication (accepted/published) in the field of fluid mechanics.
