Design system designer

Atera is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Design System Designer to join our team. as a Design System Designer, you will develop, maintain, and evolve a comprehensive design system that ensures consistency and quality across all our products and platforms. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, and product, to identify needs and opportunities, driving the adoption and evolution of the design system.

Responsibilities:

Design System Development:

Develop, maintain, and evolve a comprehensive design system, including UI components, design patterns, tokens and style guides.
Ensure consistency in visual language and interaction design across all products and platforms.
Create and maintain comprehensive design system documentation and guidelines.
Stay updated with industry trends and best practices.
Maintain the highest quality standards in design and front-end execution
Drive accessibility as a core ethos within the design system team and the company at large by championing accessibility and following WCAG guidelines.
Directly contribute to design and front-end components in Angular and Figma
Approach the design system as a product, establishing clear metrics and criteria to measure its success, and ensuring it meets the needs of both internal stakeholders and end customers.

Collaboration:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, engineering, product) to identify design system needs and opportunities. Ensure that our design system is solving the needs of all teams.
Develop processes and manage designers and engineers contributions to our systems
Provide training and support to internal teams on using the design system effectively.
Advocate for design system adoption.
Partner with stakeholders and designers to bring consistency and unity to our whole customer experience
Mentor juniors and senior designers through coaching, mentoring, and vision-setting
Facilitate a positive design culture and collaboration within the organization

Design and User Experience:

Ensure the design system supports intuitive and accessible user experiences.
Conduct user research and usability testing to inform design decisions.
Work through complex architectural challenges to create elegant solutions
Have a passion/expertise for all the details of typography, illustration, photography, and motion

Requirements:

Requirements:

5+ years in product design with a focus on design systems for complex products.
Proven experience in designing, building, and maintaining multiple large-scale design systems.
Proficiency in tools like Figma, Storybook.
Experience with design tokens and style guides.
Understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
Knowledge of design principles, typography, color theory, and accessibility standards.
Experience in developing scalable design systems.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities.
Passion for building high-quality, efficient design systems.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in an Agile environment.
Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
Background in enterprise-level or B2B software.
