The RAMPS-Feature engineering team is looking for an experienced and passionate data engineer to design and develop data and software solutions on one of the largest data platforms in the world. These solutions span multiple technologies and platforms like GCP, BigQuery, Hadoop, Teradata, Aerospike, Kafka, etc. Meet our team- Our team provides data services to company data science teams and partners to help them create risk, credit, and marketing solutions. We manage one of PayPal's most important data pipelines, which has a direct impact on the business. We work closely with PayPal enterprise data platforms, Data movement teams, and other infrastructure teams.

You will closely work with the data science teams and platform partners to support the business and create solutions that keep payments safe. You must be service-oriented.

You will harness your innovative capabilities and creativity to provide better service to PayPal customers. Be very curious and invest effort in understanding PayPal systems.

You will take tasks E2E from requirements through design, development, testing, and deployment. Be dynamic and be able to switch contexts quickly.

Your day-to-day

In your day-to-day role, you will:

• Take a significant part in PayPal’s “Move to Cloud” initiative.

• Collaborate independently with partners to define, analyze, and document their analytical and operational data needs.

• Work in an agile environment with cross-functional teams, such as DBAs, developers, Support engineers, and product and data science teams, that are located in different sites and time zones.

• Operate and troubleshoot existing data solutions. Investigate issues proactively and in response to requests/ticket openings. Provide remedy and resolution.

• Coordinate deployment to production.

What do you need to bring-

• Minimum 5 years of experience working with batch processing/real-time systems and ETLs – a must.

• At least 4 years of experience in SQL development – a must.

• At least 4 years of experience working with various database technologies like RDBMS, Hadoop, NoSQL, Spark, Pig, Hive, etc. – a must.

• Working experience with large relational databases beyond just data access is a must.

• At least 3 years of experience in one of Java/Scala/Python – a must.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - a must.

• Strong communication skills – verbal and written.

• Independent, self-motivated, organized, and Team player. Ability to switch context quickly.
