Software Engineer

Role & Responsibilities

• Ensure personnel understand expectations, have materials and equipment to meet those expectations, are placed in a role where they have strengths to meet those expectations, and are recognized for exceeding those expectations
• Communicate status of personnel, products, and projects with clear, concise reports and metrics to Sr Manager of Technology.
• Enable team members by empowering personnel and providing an atmosphere of transparency.
• Develops and produces required analysis, specification, and design deliverables.
• Participates in coding and code reviews for final product.
• Participate in various aspects of application development as assigned by the development manager for new development projects.
• Create technical documentation in the approved format for the task assigned.
• Perform unit testing on code changes and system testing as needed.
• Collaborate with Product Management and QA to clarify requirements and timeframes.
• Assess risks and performance considerations for changes/projects proposed.
• Perform maintenance of existing code base as assigned by Manager.
• Troubleshoot code level problems quickly and efficiently.
• Assist with deployment of corrections to clients affected.
• Ensure continued functionality of the program during maintenance and software testing.
• Be a strong individual contributing member to team while providing strong development guidance and oversight on development related tasks, which include the following:
• Code reviews as needed
• Troubleshoot Client Specific issues and technical questions by QA/support
• Run SQL for custom reporting projects/requirements
• Various data loads (LabCorp, etc.)
• Assist with defining architecture, language and automation processes for all new development projects as needed.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends.

Qualifications

• Requires BS degree in CS, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar and 4 – 6 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 4 years of prior work experience
• Minimum of 4+ years of embedded software development experience through all phases of Software Engineering including requirements, design, code, test and integration
• 4 to 8 years of experience with C/C++ and Python
• 4 to 8 years of Linux experience
• Real-time software development experience
• Hardware-software integration (system integration)
• You have excellent organizational skills, and work with high levels of autonomy and self-direction.
