Director of Engineering

We are seeking a highly skilled and technically adept Director of Engineering to join our technical leadership team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience developing cloud-based SaaS systems, and a solid track record as a technical leader. This role is pivotal in aligning our cutting-edge R&D efforts with the company's strategy and goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple diverse R&D teams, including Backend, Web, DevOps, QA Teams, in developing sophisticated systems with an emphasis on scalability, usability, security, and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, Professional Services, and Customer Support, to ensure successful product delivery and customer satisfaction while helping to shape the product roadmap and ensure technical feasibility.
• Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from conception to deployment and maintenance.
• Manage recruitment, retention, and development of top-tier engineering talent.
• Define, monitor, and report on key performance indicators for R&D effectiveness and efficiency.

·        Align engineering efforts with business objectives and communicate technical strategies to non-technical stakeholders.

·        Develop and drive a strategic technical roadmap that aligns with business goals, balancing innovation with operational stability.

Required Technical Skills

Programming Languages & Frameworks: Proficiency in Java/Spring stack; familiarity with web frameworks such as React, Node.js, TypeScript, CSS.

System Architecture & Design: Deep knowledge in data modeling, distributed systems architecture, design patterns, and microservices architecture.

Data Management: Experience with relational databases and NoSQL solutions (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, Couchbase, Redis).

Messaging & Streaming Technologies: Experience with messaging and brokering solutions such as RabbitMQ/Kafka.

Cloud Technologies: Proficiency in major cloud platforms (AWS preferred); deep understanding of cloud-native architecture and DevOps ecosystem such as Jenkins/GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Terraform, New Relic, Prometheus, Datadog and OpenTelemetry.

Financial Operations & Efficiency: Understanding of FinOps principles to optimize cloud costs and resource usage.

Security: Familiarity with OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities, secure programming techniques, and common software security tools.

Qualifications

·        15+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 8 years in engineering management.

·        Minimum 3 years of experience as a Director/Group Leader, managing technical managers across diverse disciplines.

·        Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

·        Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire high-performing, diverse engineering teams while gaining their respect.

·        Strong strategic planning and multitasking skills, capable of managing multiple projects in a dynamic environment.

·        Proven track record in customer-centric product development and delivery.

·        Experience managing Scrum/Agile-based teams and driving process improvements.

·        Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

·        Ability to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.

·        Experience managing global teams, including mixed onshore/offshore resources.

·        Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making and risk management.

·        High proficiency in English language, both verbal and written.

Preferred Qualifications

·        Experience in AI/ML, data science and data engineering practices.

·        Experience with compliance standards such as: SOC 2, GDPR, ISO 27001, ITAR.

·        Familiarity with Generative AI and LLM integration concepts.

·        Familiar with .NET programming language and ecosystem

·        Familiarity with SAP S4/HANA or other ERP systems.

·        Experience with IoT devices and architecture.
