Visual Layer is a rapidly growing startup focused on leveraging visual data analysis to unlock the full potential of visual information. We are building a single access layer for all visual data that allows users to seamlessly explore, search, and organize vast amounts of unstructured images and videos with ease.

Based on the popular open-source project fastdup (350,000+ installations!). Visual Layer's solution leverages a proprietary graph engine that allows performing graph analytics & graph search on a very large scale data. Our innovative solutions empower businesses across various industries to harness the power of visual data.

What we are looking for

We are seeking an accomplished leader with extensive industrial experience in bringing AI solutions into production environments, particularly in agile settings, to lead our AI research team at Visual Layer. As the Head of AI, you will drive the development and deployment of advanced AI technologies, with a strong emphasis on Computer Vision and Vision-Language models/NLP.

Your Impact & Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of AI researchers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
• Drive the rapid development and deployment of AI solutions in agile environments, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality, production-ready software.
• Champion best practices in AI research (& engineering), including model development, training, testing, and deployment, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify business opportunities and develop AI solutions that meet customer needs.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI research, particularly in Computer Vision and Vision-Language models/NLP, and integrate cutting-edge techniques into our products and services.

Your Knowledge & Skills

• A MSc. / Phd in computer science or related fields
• Proven track record of success in leading AI projects from conception to production deployment in industrial settings, with at least 3 years of experience in a managerial or team lead role [MUST]
• Strong expertise in Computer Vision, with hands-on experience in developing and deploying CV algorithms and systems [MUST]
• Solid understanding of Vision-Language models and NLP techniques, with experience in applying these technologies to real-world problems [MUST]
• Extensive experience in agile software development methodologies, with a focus on delivering AI solutions in fast-paced, dynamic environments [MUST]
• Proficiency in modern AI programming languages and frameworks, with a focus on Python and PyTorch.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms and services, particularly in deploying AI solutions at scale.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Knowledge of distributed computing systems and containerization technologies.
• Experience with multi-modal AI systems combining Computer Vision and NLP capabilities.
