Who Are We:

Amai Proteins is the tasty Designer Protein company. Amai (means ‘sweet’ in Japanese) Pro-Protein platform combines: (a) Agile-Integrative Computational Protein Design (AI-CPD) to design proteins that are fit to the mass food and feed market as to stability, taste, and other attributes; (b) precision fermentation production in an array of host organisms and (c) food technology to assess the Designer Proteins and integrate them to consumer-packaged goods. In this framework, Amai assesses numerous proteins in an array of host organisms from small lab-scale to very large industrial scales. Amai’s first product, sweelin™ is the first sweetener which is tasty, not unhealthy, sustainable and cost-effective. sweelin™ enables up to 70% sugar reduction without compromising taste. Amai is already working with several multinational food and beverage companies.

Job Overview

Cloning work and expression screening of host organisms. Small scale production of novel designer proteins for preliminary analysis. Microorganism (glycerol) stock maintenance. Preparation of production documents. Transfer and support for the scaleup team. Small-scale downstream protein purification up to food-grade standards to be used by the Food Technology Department. Support of any additional ongoing projects in the lab.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Ability to learn quickly and work independently.
• Supporting and cooperating with other units and departments.
• Fermentation.
• Analytics.
• Food technology.
• The employee will report to the manager of molecular biology and cloning lab and to the Director of Biotechnology.

Qualifications:

• BSc in Biochemistry and/or related fields (experience in lab research is a big plus).
• Experience in molecular biology and cloning – advantage.
• Background in protein purification or HPLC – advantage.
• Fluent in Hebrew and English.
