Director of Data Processing

We are seeking an experienced Director of Data to spearhead the development and implementation of our big data analytics platform. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in defining strategies, leading a technical team, and developing data pipelines and infrastructure. This role is critical in ensuring that our data infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and capable of handling complex data processing tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership & Strategy:
• Define the vision and strategy for the big data analytics platform.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of data engineers, data scientists, and analysts.
• Collaborate with senior management to align platform development with business objectives.
• Platform Development:
• Oversee the architecture, design, and implementation of the big data platform.
• Ensure the platform is scalable, robust, and secure.
• Develop and manage data pipelines for ingestion, processing, and storage of large datasets.
• Implement best practices for data governance, security, and compliance.
• Technical Expertise:
• Utilize advanced big data technologies and tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
• Optimize and maintain data processing workflows.
• Ensure high availability and performance of the data platform.
• Collaboration & Communication:
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
• Communicate technical solutions and strategies effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
• Provide regular updates on project status and key metrics to leadership.

Qualifications:

• Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in big data engineering, data architecture, or related roles.
• Proven experience in leading and managing technical teams.
• Technical Skills:
• Expertise in big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and NoSQL databases.
• Strong programming skills in languages like Python, Java, or Scala.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Kubernetes).
• Proficient in ETL processes, data modeling, and data warehousing solutions.
