Doctoral Student

A PhD research fellow position in a project seeking to uncover the role of lipid droplets in the context of ischemia and ageing. The project tackles the challenge of in vivo imaging the neuro-immune niche before and after ischemic events with a significant enphasis on microglia physiology. The successful candidate is expected to conduct a four-year research project involving advanced multiphoton microscopy, histology and various types of data analysis.

Responsibilities

Perform pre-clinical research in the domain of cortical micro-infarcts and modulation of the neuroimmune response associated with microglia activation. Project sponsored by the LaCaixa Foundation.

Qualifications

Required skills: ability to work independently, deep-thinker, small mammal surgery, neurobiology or immunology background, intravital microscopy (big bonus). Proficient in data analysis, preferably using coding tools such as Matlab or Python.
