Key Tasks & Responsibilities

• Assuring Sigma-Aldrich Israel part of our company, Jerusalem and Rehovot sites, operates in accordance with
  
  

corporate and international and local Israeli regulation Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements and standards.

• Keep up to date with EHS new regulations.
• Providing EHS technical support to our company employees. Participate in corporate EHS forums and conferences.
  
  

Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace. This will include

tasks such as EHS assessment using Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Behavioral RA and workplace RA.

Facilitation and / or review of Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and work safety permits.

• Supervise incident investigation include Near-miss and injuries.
• Maintain procedures for pre-emergency planning & emergency response and renew fire & rescue permits annually.
• Update corporate programs according to corporate group standards.
• Maintain medical program for new and current our company employees.
• Supervise the hearing conservation program according to the Israeli regulations.
• Hazardous agents monitoring in workplace
• Allergan's monitoring for employees working with animals
• Vaccination program for employees working with bio-hazard agents
• Maintain Management systems (ISO45001& ISO14001), prepare and present annual management review.
• Environment- Maintain sustainability program in following the: Energy efficiency, water, waste, air emissions and wastewater management.
  

Serve as the company Life-Science Israel - representative to the Ministries of Health, Labor, Environment, Municipality, Fire Fighting, Home Front Command and Rescue Services, and the insurance company, to stay in compliance with Regulator.

AUTHORITY

• To develop a formal sustainability program to be used company wide. To conduct
  
  

environmental surveys using collected information to manage risks within the company.

• To monitor and reduce environmental waste, chemical waste, and pollution.
• To create a systematic approach to dealing with waste and safely prepares hazardous material for shipping and disposal
• To advocate a safe work environment for all employees.
• To develop recommendations on how to improve environmental conditions to help avoid hazards
• To identify potentially hazards and risks at workplace (chemical / biological / mechanical etc.)
• To maintain various licensures through yearly refresher courses to inspect the facility to eliminate workplace hazards such as incorrect working methods, incorrect materials being used, or even the use of potentially toxic materials.
• To give recommendations for educating employees on how to keep themselves and their workplace safe through the use of safety training programs.
  
  

Qualifications

EDUCATION/LANGUAGES

• B.Sc. in Chemistry / Biotechnology / Chemical / Material / Biotechnology engineering
• M.Sc. Degree (Advantage)
• Environmental, Health and Safety Officer (Advantage)
• Languages: Hebrew, English
  
  

Professional Skills & Experience

• Israeli Government license to work as an Occupational Health and Safety officer.
  
  

3 years' experience in manufacturing environment with responsibility for Environmental, Health and Safety.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently with attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Superior analytical/ problem solving, written and verbal communications
• Experience working with local regulatory agencies preferred.
