Senior Software Engineering Manager - MCI AI (Microsoft Cloud for Industry - AI Team)

We are in search of a passionate Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of skilled engineers. This role entails pioneering sophisticated AI and ML technologies, crafting Large Language Model applications, and harnessing these innovations to address tangible business challenges. With the expansion of our team's tasks and responsibilities, we are establishing a specialized group to focus on developing new, thrilling capabilities.

The Microsoft Industry Clouds & Solutions team, integral to this growth, unifies the finest offerings from Microsoft Cloud. Within this framework, the Industry AI team takes the lead in deploying groundbreaking AI and LLM technologies across diverse domains and industries, collaborating with some of the largest global enterprises.

We seek a driven and passionate individual to fill the role of a software engineering manager. This person will guide a cohort of talented software engineers through a company-critical mission. This entails tackling intricate business issues, spearheading the next wave of industry-leading innovations for our industry clouds and AI solutions, growing the team, and playing a pivotal role in a “startup” within the company.

Responsibilities

As a senior engineering manager in the group, you will be in charge of managing, leading, designing and delivering new capabilities leveraging cutting edge research and implementing new technologies. This includes solutions architecture definition, developing new components needed to enable new experiences, and solving technical problems, while developing and growing your team skills and careers. You will need to learn and work with the platforms on which we deliver our solutions including Azure, Dynamics 365, Microsoft Fabric, Power Apps, Power Automate.

To Do That, You Will Need To

• Lead and manage a team of software engineers, promoting a culture of ownership and accountability.
• Guide the team in the design, development, testing, and deployment of high-quality software.
• Ensure that projects are completed on time and meet all business and system requirements.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure that code quality is at the highest level possible, and design and development are aligned with company standards.
• Work closely across teams and disciplines to shape the solutions and make sure they provide value to our customers.
• Mentor and coach team members, assisting with their professional growth.
• Work with the peer PMs to define the feature crew’s day to day execution.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.
• Debug and investigate live-site issues to ensure proper availability of our solution.
• Contribute to team-wide fundamentals/infrastructure investments.
• Lead the prototyping of new technologies and frameworks.
• Foster a culture of agility, innovation, and customer-focus within the team.
• Comply with project plans and industry standards.
• Lead by example high level of technical excellence (including but not limited to participating in design, code, and test reviews), and act as a technical leader for the team.
  
  

Qualifications

•   B.Sc. or higher degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
•   6+ years of hands-on development experience in relevant technologies (C#, JS, React, cloud computing)
•   At least 2 years of proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer Manager or similar role, with a track record of leading a software development team.
•   Solid problem-solving, troubleshooting skills, good communication, critical thinking, and collaboration skills.
•   Strong knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices.
•   Ability to understand unfamiliar code bases, debug client and service side applications.
•   Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks completely and independently.
•   Ability to bring clarity and alignment to the team.
•   Knowledge of Azure is a plus.
