Job Title: Physicist – laser researcher at LightSolver
Location: Tel Aviv, Type: full-time, mostly on-site
About Light Solver:
At LightSolver, we are devising a new computing paradigm to tackle hard computation challenges. Our innovative all-optical platform utilizes the natural properties of light and unique algorithmic layers to accelerate complex computational missions and solve hard optimization problems.
We are seeking a talented and experienced physicist to join our research team. You will be working in a team that develops coupled-laser array systems, aiming to tackle hard computational challenges. Specifically, you’ll be conducting experiments and research to find, characterize, and solve problems related to the laser coupler system, as well as developing and implementing innovative calibration algorithms, control, and characterization tools. This role requires a deep understanding of Fourier optics and beam shaping in free space, as well as experience in the design and implementation of advanced optical phase masks using Spatial Light Modulators (SLMs).
Key Responsibilities:
- Improve and optimize calibration procedures for our laser-based computing platform
- Design and optimize Diffractive Optical Elements (DOE) and SLM holograms.
- Build and validate physical models simulating the laser system
- Develop research tools to analyze data and enhance the performance of laser-based systems
- Collaborate closely with system, algorithms, hardware, and software teams
Requirements:
- Proficiency in Fourier optics and hands-on experience in optical systems – a must
- 5 years of experience in optical R&D groups in industry or academy, at least 3 of them in relevant fields (e.g. laser systems, interferometry, beam shaping)
- Ph.D./M.Sc. in physics/EE/equivalent fields (Ph.D. - advantage)
- Hands-on experience with SLM or DOE design and implementation
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct independent research, take initiative, and collaborate within a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Hebrew & English)
- Fluency in Python/MATLAB
Advantages:
- Experience working with complex optical and laser systems in the industry
- Proven track record in building and validating physical models
- Experience in C/C++ and GPU programming (CUDA)
- Experience in laser physics, including design, construction, and calibration of laser systems
If you are passionate about optical physics and eager to work on groundbreaking technologies, we would love to hear from you!
