Senior Software Engineer - Microsoft Threat Protection

The Microsoft Defender Platform Engineering team is responsible for delivering a constantly evolving set of services and solutions to meet the challenging landscape of our ever-evolving attackers. 

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join one of the key platform teams, the MTP (Microsoft Threat Protection) Runtime Platform Team, that design, architect and build large scale platform systems, cloud service infrastructure and engineering systems, including one of the world biggest Kubernetes clusters. The cutting-edge services and infrastructure you build will and handle and support the world leading enterprise and consumer services. You will work in collaboration with other Engineers, Researchers, Data Scientists and Architects to continue extend and evolve one of the world most complex runtime platforms, while you learn and build your skill sets on how to innovate the design approach of said pipelines and services. 

 

Qualifications

•  8+ years of development experience in Enterprise environments.  
• 3+ years of Linux hands on system experiences 
• Technical leadership in web architectures and distributed systems, preferably with large scale Kubernetes based systems. 
• Proven experience in Kubernetes, and the Kubernetes satellite technologies (Cluster API, CrossPlane, ArgoCD, FLUX).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Software Engineers, Program Managers, Security researchers, and Data Scientists
•  Proven Coding experience using C# or Java or other high-level languages.  
•  Expertise in the “inner development loop” including test and integration methodology. 
•  Mastery of CI\CD, and safe deployment concepts with hands on implementation experiences  
•  Ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced and dynamic environment by providing clarity 
•  Leadership skills: Including judgement, resolution, negotiating and decision-making skills. 
•  Ability to technically mentor Junior/Mid-Career engineers. 
•  Familiarity with the instrumenting service metrics, monitoring and defining SLI/SLOs for services. 
•  Formal experience with incident detection, mitigation and resolution workflows associated with production services.
